Camping: Not for the weak!

What a horrible weekend to go camping this past weekend was! It rained every day and hailed twice while we were there. It never got warmer than 55⁰ and the sun barely shined. BUT through all this “hell” all I can keep thinking is how much fun I had! I don’t know about you, but to me it was this crazy awesome adventure that made me really love camping even more. Even though I did threaten Dale I was going to leave in the middle of the night and go in to his parent’s camper, I had a good ole’ time sleeping in my hammock.

A general rule I have for myself when I am camping is that you cannot shower, well this trip I did shower, twice, and it was because it was a great sense of warmth and it felt so good to stand in the steaming hot water, even if it was only for 10 minutes.

This was the first trip we have ever bought Cabela on and she did great! She hardly barked and she obeyed wonderfully.  Dale took her to the dunes Saturday and Sunday, so she was so tired. It was great for us because when she’s tired she’s really likes to snuggle with usJ.

The two loves in my life!! Dale and Cabela!

I love camping so much; I wish I could do it every day for the rest of my life!

My Life Should be a Television Show

Truly it should...

This week and last week have been such a crazy wild ride!! I will list them in order of craziness.

Please read this, I know it's long, but it will be worth your time.

5. Saturday, my boyfriend and I, went Turkey/Frog hunting. We were prepared not to see or hear any turkeys (that's just how it is when you go turkey hunting in the fall). Once we were settled and waiting for a while, we decided to make a call just to see; two turkeys about 20 yards away made the loudest calls I have ever heard. They were almost screaming back and forth to each other, it was awful!
We saw them both, but didn't have a good shot. After waiting awhile they flew down from the trees and were in sight, but THEN TWO BUCKS walk right in front of them!!! Of course it's not deer season and of course they are both in perfect range to shoot!! Ahhh!

4. Today, on my way to work, I was listening to the local radio station, Y Country, and they had a contest on. They distorted this song and then wanted us to guess what the song was. Well I knew it and decided for the first time to call in and see if I could at least get through. Well I did and I won!!
I won a whole roasted chicken from a local grocery store and 4 tickets to the Niles Haunted House. What a win aye?

3. Sad story really, but where I work we had an office cat, Pickles. Well pickles has been around the block, very old, last week Monday a lady I work with walked into the back room and screamed. I thought maybe she saw a mouse, but no it was Pickles....Mangled.....Dead.....Body. I took one look at that cat and knew without a shadow of a doubt that it was dead. I told my boss and as she was going to look in the back room, this cat comes prancing out, like it had never just died. I guess cats really do have nine lives.
Well as the week went on Pickles continued to look worse and worse. Finally on Thursday, everyone decided to have the cat put down. We called the humane society and and found out that it will cost at least $30 to come pick up the cat.  That was just too much money for this small country business, so we decided the best thing to do was to take matters into our own hands. I called my boyfriend, Dale, and asked him if he could put this poor cat out of its misery, He said he would. I took the Pickles home with me and never heard a peep out her the whole ride. Once we got to Dale's house I opened the box and in a matter a minutes, the cat jumped out of the box and took off into the woods. It happened so fast we couldn't believe this mostly dead cat could move so quickly. Hopefully that wasn't her ninth life!!?

2. My new favorite show is Duck Dynasty. It is on A&E on Wednesday nights, season 2 starts October 4th (Nice little plug there)!! Anyways, on this show they follow this "Hillbillies" family that made it rich by making Duck Calls (Duck Commander, duck calls) and it's all about what rich hillbillies do day to day. Well this one episode they go golfing and at this golf coarse they find this pond that is the "Honey Spot" for frog hunting, so they decide to go back at night and hunt these frogs for a nice tasty dinner. There's more to the story, but you're just gonna have to watch it for yourself. Anyways this got me real excited to go frog hunting, so Monday night Dale and I did. We caught 12 frogs and it was sooo fun! Oh and then we cooked them and ate them!! Yum!!
Here's some proof.

1. Now for the number one craziest story of all time!! Saturday, Dale and I, went to MSU (Michigan State University) to tailgate for the MSU Notre Dame game. It was a cooler day, but nice enough to wear t-shirts, so we bought jackets along for later. In the midst of all the tailgating chaos, we land out jackets down and basically put them out of mind. When the game was about to start everyone began to clean up and put things away. When we (dale, myself, and his friend drew) returned from the bathroom, our coats were gone!! We were in shear panic, because each of us had nice, expensive coats. We called just about everyone from the tailgate asking them if they happened to pick them up. After no one knew what happened to them, we decided it must have been a bum. You see at MSU when you throw a beer can or a pop can down on the ground, within minutes (no lie) a hobo/bum will come by and pick it up. The place is CRAWLING with bums, so for us to assume this is truly not too far fetched.
As the night went on we were still moping about losing our coats and the later it got the colder it got. By 11 O'Clock at night, we were sad, mad, cold, and tired!! We all decided to just go back to the hotel and sleep in out nice warms beds and hopefully we would forget about it.
At 12:30 am, Dale's friend Drew storms into the hotel room yelling that we found our coats. As i slowly opened my eyes I saw the white letters I am so found of, "North Face". I sat up in my bed quickly to see if it was really true, and there right in front of my eyes was my our coats. Drew continued to tell us he saw this bum walking on the side walk with an arm full of coats, upon further inspection he spotted his green jacket, and then Dales, and the mine!! He confronted the bum, he denied, so he grabbed them from the bum, pushed him and ran like heck!
I felt like I was on an episode if Seinfeld, it was so unbelievable to me I kept asking the rest of the night, "Did we really just get our coats back from a bum?".

Thanks for reading!

Picture Perfect Post

I have two pictures for today's post because I just couldn't decide. I have been antisipating fall so much that it has consumed my thoughts day in and day out.
How wonderful is it to drink a warm beverage on a cool day, watch the leaves change to the most colorful scene and wear those cozy sweaters that can only be worn at this time? SO EXCITED!

This one makes me think of: "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day." Genesis 1:31

This picture is complements of Liz Laparra! Fall is her favorite season too! Thanks Liz, love this photo so.

A Running Passion

I love this video, especially the first minute! I love the guy with long hair. I want to run everyever he is, it looks so beautiful!

This another really inspiring video to me. I really want to do that rock thing, I think it would be cool to see how many times I have run the same course and I was even thinking of writing my time on each rock to see my improvements.

This week I have finally started my training for a half marathon. I have been wanting to do it for a while now, but just never had the guts or determination to do it. I watched a bunch of inspirational videos to help spark the desire in me and this one really helped make that happen. I have been a runner my whole life, but the farthest I have ever ran has only been like 8 miles. I want to reach double digits!

My end goal is to run a marathon, just one thats all I want to do, but then stay at that level for as long as my body will allow.

I hope you have been inspired to from these videos!

Picture Perfect Post

I am going to start posting my favorite picture, hopefully weekly and call it the "Picture Perfect Post".

Doesn't this make you want to sip on a cup of coffee first thing in the morning while looking out the window at the sun coming up over the trees? I think I just might do that tomorrow! Alarm clock set for early.

Summers Here and Just About Gone...

I have a lot that I need to catch up on. Well first on July 27 we had a little party for my moms birthday. It was really fun! We watches the olympics in the backyard on a projector.

Yes i made that cake!

First of all I believe I finally have a viewer, yes one viewer! Thank you Liz Laparra! Speaking of Liz, last week her and my beat friend Melissa came to visit. It was truly an amazing week! I have missed them so much and it has been about 2 years since I was able to see them last!! We had so much planned for our week together. I figure pictures are a better way of describing what we did than having me write about it and probably spell 65% of the words wrong and use close to no grammar :).

We went all out for Dale's softball game!
And so did Cabela- Go #11!!

It was really sad to see them leave, but I am glad I was able to finally spend time with them after two long years!! NEVER AGAIN, will I wait that long until the next time I see them!!

So one of Mine and Dales favorite things to do is going hiking, Well now with our new addition (cabela, the dog) she likes to go to. She is so independent when we go to, we love it. She'll wander ahead, nose to ground, sniffing out whatever shes finds interesting. She is a pro at finding dead animals (I am so proud of her ::cough cough Sarcasim::)

And finally, Saturday August 18, 2012 was Dale and My 1 year anniversay! I couldn't believe it has been a year already, but then again I feel as if i have been with him forever and I love it. It has been the best year of my life and I can't even imagine finding someone any more prefect than Dale. I love you baby!

To celebrate we did a Pentatholon. We first drove to Grand Mere Park canoed around Middle Lake, then from there we biked a trail to the "Big Dune" and hiked up and down that then biked again back down the trail back to the car and canoe. Then we got the food we prepared and hiked about a mile down the beach and had a beautiful picnic! It was a wonderful day!
All packed up and ready to go.
